10 Strange Beauty Tricks That Work

12-19Ever go to someone with a beauty problem only to have them give you the most ridiculous solution ever and swear it will work? You always leave that conversation with a small part of you wondering if it does. I don’t know what tips you’ve heard over the years and if they work, but here are 10 that do:

  1. Reduce puffy eyes with raw potatoes cut and peeled. Place them over your eyes for 10 minutes and the potato will cool your eyes and reduce any swelling.
  2. Get rid of cellulite and use coffee grounds as a body scrub. The caffeine will stimulate skin cells and being a diuretic, will suck out all excess fluids and decrease puffiness. Furthermore, using it as a scrub will get rid of any dead skin.
  3. Revive your hair with a natural deep conditioning treatment. You could do one of two things. Apply mayonnaise on your hair for about 20 minutes, or mix avocado with one tablespoon of olive oil. But, slather only onto your strands, not the scalp itself otherwise your hair will look overly oily.
  4. Say goodbye to new-shoes blisters. Rub a little bit of Vaseline on areas that tend to get blisters and this will reduce any friction.
  5. Remove glitter makeup with tape. But be sure to use fabric tape since it will be the most gentle on your skin. However, if your skin is super sensitive or prone to redness, avoid this option and stick with makeup remover.
  6. Plump your lips naturally by adding a few drops of cinnamon oil to your lip gloss. But before trying it on your lips, spot check the oil against a patch of skin and make sure it doesn’t have any undesired effect. 
  7. Ease your sunburn with a warm bath in very strong black tea. This will definitely help alleviate any burning sensation and the tannic acid in the tea draws the burn out of the skin and helps it heal.
  8. Set your makeup with a steamed 10 minute bath. The steam sets makeup, while the mega-dose of moisture makes skin look plump, fresh and dewy.
  9. Banish even the reddest of zits instantly. Dab the spots with nasal spray or eye drops. These contain vasoconstrictors, which shrink blood vessels, thereby taking away the redness and bringing down inflammation.
  10. De-bloat with apple cider vinegar. Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with half a glass of water and drink up! Within 30 minutes, the vinegar’s enzymes will start flushing away the bloat.
