A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

apicworth1000 smallWant to start a blog but only have a way with canvases or cameras and not words? Don't  let that stop you. Remember, words are but one form of communication. Ever heard of the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words”?

Digital communication today is becoming more and more photo-centric. Rarely would you find a blog with no pictures. Not to mention, a nice sum of blogs out there revolve solely around pictures because the bloggers, like you, truly shine when connecting through an aesthetic medium. In the last couple of years, “photoblogging” has really exploded across the internet. People from all over are photoblogging and for a variety of reasons, be it their art or hobbies. Some are amateurs, others professionals, and a many are somewhere in between. 

How do you get started? Easy.

Pick a topic: What will you be posting pictures of? Where does your passion lie?

Decide on a name:  Find a unique and easy to remember name but don’t limit yourself with a name that is too specific and won’t leave room for future creativity.

Create your Website: Here are some places to go, to create photoblogs on the Internet for free:

Blogger: It’s interface is relatively easy to use and adaptable. Just paste your pictures into your post and then save it. You can later polish your photoblog further if you need. Check it out at www.blogger.com.

WordPress: Probably the most popular photoblogging option currently available with many free themes and templates. One advantage is that users can easily utilize free webspace provided.Check it out at www.wordpress.org.

Tumblr: Tumblr is a newer platform that lets you effortlessly share anything. You can post your pictures from wherever you happen to be. You can also customize everything, from colors to theme. Check it out at www.tumblr.com.
